October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month



One in three American's have experienced domestic violence in her lifetime. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence says that this number is more than those affected by breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lung cancer. Many Americans feels that discussing this issue is not appropriate and thus lies the problem.



Here are some ways that you can help:

Encourage employer to create a domestic violence policy that offers education and training

Organize a moment of silence in honor of victim and survivors

Replace light bulbs outside of home with purple light bulbs

wear purple

Research position of candidates running for elected office. How do they stand on domestic violence

Help raise money to help fun local womans shelter
