Weekly Wrap up

This week was a bit boring but then after all we had so much going on for the past week it is always great to have a down time
Mainly putting the house back together after going to camp, having house guest and a wonderful independence day is where you would find us. It seemed as if there was no room that was messed up just a bit.
Sunday we did go see the fireworks that were not presented on the 4th due to rain. This was a fun trip one that we made with the youth group. Oh how fun, good eats, great fireworks and a wonderful time for all.
Monday was more football for the boys and us girls stayed up and toned up our kitchen skills. We have learned to make many different things including the frosted banana bars that are listed on this blog.
The rest of the week we spent time outside, took walks, visited the doctors office, did errands up town and just goofed off.
What did you do this week? Want to share or see what others did? Head over to the blog Weird, Unsocialized homeschoolers.

Aloha Friday July 10, 2009

I love to participate in the meme Aloha Friday whenever I find the time. The bases behid this meme as explained by the host:

From the blog An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response

My question today is:
What was your favorite activity you were part of this summer or what are you still looking forward to doing this summer

To participate in this great meme or to read others head over to the blog An Island Life

Whats Going On

Friday Fragments is an every Friday meme that is located over at the blog Half Past Kissin Time. It is where we can share the little things that are not large enough to post yet thoughts that we want to share. This week has been quite awesome in both activities going on as well as things needed to be done.

Recently we went to camp in Florida and upon getting home I nicely requested that all blankets and clothing that was taken with the kids to be placed in the laundry room. With 4 kids and myself having went I had so much laundry that I did not notice that one of my daughter, the oldest did not follow directions. When I thought all laundry was done she announced and asked "Mom when do you want us to put our dirty clothes from camp in the laundry" Wonders never cease it is this same child that will be moving out this fall and going to college. I can only imagine how much laundry she will have for me to do when she visits home.

My daughter, son in law, and my princess came for a visit during the holidays. It was so cool to watch as my granddaughter enjoyed the fireworks for the first time in her life in the sweetness of her fathers arms. It makes me think of that old church song "In our fathers hands". The safety that she must allready feel with her father. My hope is that she will always feel that way and be able to rely on those around her.

I am so looking forward to VBS coming up at the end of the week. Our church always has a great turn out and my entire family always works at it. I know that my children will be attending and working again this year. The bad thing is that it falls the same week as football camp. My son always attends football camp and helps with the VBS as well. This year I expect will be no different.

Well that is about all the fragments that my fragmented mind can think of so I will close. You can read about others fragmented lives or add your own over at the blog Half Past Kissin Time. Also there is a new meme known as Friday's Free Write located at the blog Ordinary and Awesome.

OrdinaryAndAwesome.com is the Chronicles of My Ordinary and Awesome Life, Family, and Thoughts. OrdinaryAndAwesome.com is the Mostly Wordless Wednesday headquarters as well as the home to several original awards and memes.

Great Books For Kids

I want to share with you a great set of books that any child not feeling up to par would love. Even a child feeling great will want to read about the antics that the characters go through. The books I speak of are no other than the Dr. Hippo Series. At this time the blog Potamus Prefers is hosting a giveaway for the complete set of Dr. Hippo books. Contest ends July 13, 2009 so hurry up and get over to the blog Potamus Prefers and enter.

WIn a place to put the diapers

The blog Two of a Kind Working on a Full House is having a baby bash event on their blog. The great prize today I know would be welcome at my daughters house. It is for a Diaper Dekor that seals the odor of the diapers away. The joke between my daughter and son in law and those that love them is that they think their daughter farts, poops, and burps like a grown man. This little angel in grandmas eyes could never do such a thing that is until you smell the dirty diaper that has set in the trash can for just a short period of time. So the Diaper Dekor would be a welcome win in our book. If you want a chance to win you have until July 24th to head over to the blog Two of a Kind Working on a Full House and enter.

want to list your chosen list of 13? Head over here

It is summer once again and around our house our children are mainly teen agers. I do allow them to earn allowances to spend as they see fit. I do however hate it when they spend that money on items they otherwise would not need. That is the why the project I chose to work on is that of family store.
The original article is located
The way I will set up my favorite store is by buying snack cakes, packs of crackers, etc.... to stock my cabinet set aside for the family store. The children will be allowed to buy these at discounted prices that will pay for the snack allowing me to restock but not as much they would pay at the local gas station or store. I love this idea because the snack money comes back to me and they receive the snack they desire. It is a win win situation

What I learned this week July 7, 2009

I learned many things this week. I learned that I can rely on my son in law and daughter if I need to. I learned how much fun we can all have together. I learned that I no longer have to worry about my brother and his children because him and his new wife are doing a great job now. I learned that I can move away from this area and not worry about those I leave behind. I learned that my son in law had the time of his life lighting off fireworks primarily because he had never done anything like that before.

Share what you learned this week over at the blog Musings of a housewife

Top Ten Tuesday July 7, 2009

I would love to share with you the top 10 events in life at this moment

  1. Son heading off to college seems to be gaining more responsibility and ready to take of several things for himself. Makes me proud because it seems as if I have done well in my job as mom
  2. Daughter raising a little princess that compares to none other. I am very proud of my daughter as her and her husband creates a wonderful family. Once again proud because she asks for help from me when needed and it seems as if I have raised a wonderful daughter who has become a great mommy.
  3. Daughter (middle one) learning what responsibility is helping to take care of her sister and baby as her sister gets ready to have teeth worked on. Oh this little girl who is now 18 has made me as a mother very happy. She has graduated from high school and is ready to take on the college world and plans on working in the social work field as a missionary
  4. Son (middle one) happy to be entering his senior year of high school. Oh how happy he is as he knows it will be his last year to play football. He plans on entering college the following year not for sure what he will do with his life but believes somehow he will work with disadvantaged children or those with learning needs. Let me share with you about this young man who they said would not talk, read or learn to write. Now in high school he makes straight A's This momma does not take no as an answer
  5. His twin sister is also ready for her senior year. She is a bit quieter than her brother and often gets overlooked. I was so proud of her when she reminded us (as if we would forget) that she to would be graduating from high school. I have seen this little lady take large steps in maturity as she has reached her senior year in high school. No real follow up plan known for her yet. I am sure that God has special plans for her though.
  6. My youngest will be a sophomore in high school this coming year. I am most proud of him as I watch him change daily. He is kind and quite and knows that he wants to serve people and his Lord in the field of construction. He wants to build for those who need help or have mass destruction. He plans to share the word of God with those who he helps. I am so happy and proud that he found this path on his own
  7. My nephew just turned 5 this week and will be heading off to kindergarten. Oh how I have seen this little one changing from the human tornado to a young man who can be polite and make friends with anyone
  8. My nephew who will be 4 later this month. He is special because he was neglected by his momma and my younger brother fought for custody of him. I took care of him allot of his early life. At 10 months old he could not hold his head up, hold his bottle, play with a toy or even hold a rattle. I have watched him grow from that sorry state to one that runs, plays, and acts like other children his own age. I truly do love him and know that he fits well within the family he belongs in now.
  9. My niece who is nearly 18 months old who can hold her own against her brothers. This little gal belongs to my sister in law who came into my brothers life and helped clean it up. I am so proud of this little gal because she is full of so much love.
  10. My princess of a granddaughter who is my heart and soul. Oh I do not know where I would be without her. I love this little gal more than life itself it seems. She is so super special to me and her papa. So many things that she already does and we wait at the age of our seats to see what she will do next.

Do you have a top 10? Want to list them? Head over to the blog ohamanda.com and join in

Random Thoughts for Tuesday July 7, 2009

Random Tuesday Thought is a place to share those little thoughts that I do not post but still want to share.
My son in law is 6 foot 7 inches tall and my daughter is 5 foot 7 inches tall and we are always curious where my granddaughter will be at. Katelynn is allready 30 inches long and I have heard of 2 different ways of early determining where child will end up (1) double height at 2 years of age: little bit away as she is only 10 months old right now but if we double it we know she will be at least 5 foot tall even at this age. My middle daughter did not reach 5 foot tall the poor thing and she is 18 and has stopped growing so if this manner is taken into affect we know that the niece will be taller than the aunt. THis will not be good news for my daughter. LOL. (2) add the fathers height and mothers height and divide by 2 so 79 inches + 67 inches is 146 inches and divide that by two and we reach 73 inches which is 6 foot 1 inch. Man if that is right I will have to look up at my granddaughter in the days to come.
Do you have a random thought you want to share? Want to read other random thoughts? Head over to the blog the UnMom to join in.

JoAnn Huth Transfer Bag Giveaway win a transfer bag

On my recent trip to Florida I took along the transfer bag. I did this for more than one reason. First I love the look of the great transfer bag and how functional it is in a small compartment. It has numerous pockets to hold what I need it to as well as a wide open compartment where I can fit items that does not fit into compartments. Second reason for choosing to take the great transfer bag was because it fit well into a larger bag that I often carried with me as well. How great it was to simply slip out the bag when I wanted to use it by itself but slipped graciously into a larger bag when that was needed.

I reviewed the great transfer bag at an earlier time as well and you can read that review here Let me remind that the transfer bag is a great gift for you or someone you love. It is available in many great colors and patterns and looks great in all of them. JoAnn Huth has designed the bag to be available in 4 different sizes.

Buy: You can purchase the great transfer bag directly off the JoAnn Huth website located at http://www.accessoriesbyjoann.com/store/

GlamourMom products came into reality through necessity. A young mother who was breast feeding desired a top to wear under her shirt that would help with shape and offer full support. Finding nothing in existence that totally completed her needs she decided that it would become her job to create a tank top with a built in nursing bra. GlamourMom created a wonderful product that is perfect for all nursing moms. Now the goal of GlamourMom turns to keeping to date with the ever changing needs of women.
The GlamourMom Nursing Bra Tank offers stylish adjustable spaghetti straps allows easy breastfeeding fit. I remember having a nursing bra with my oldest daughter but no great shirt to go with it. Now breast feeding mothers can have the ease of movement yet comfort with the GlamourMom nursing bra tank.

The GlamourMom wanted moms to feel comfortable and look great while having the ease of wearable clothing that offer an ease of breast feeding. The GlamourMom nursing bra nightgown offers the great ease of nursing bra built in to help with support and comfort of that breast feeding mother.

We received the GlamourMom GlamourTank built in bra tanks. My daughter is not presently breast feeding but needs a bit of support. As we all know our bodies take quite a beaten while carrying our little ones. After delivering that 10 lb baby girl my daughters body was well out of shape. She loves the GlamourMom tank that allows her to look attractive yet offers her support that no other tank can.
